Steel Market Update is pleased to present our Steel 101 workshop for the third time this year. Our Steel 101 workshops have received high marks from our past attendees.
“The workshop does a great job teaching how steel can be produced, how the process would like to be run, and the changes in the steel markets. I learned things I can use to help my company and also be a better customer.” - Bruce Wuttke, Curries/Door Group
“I really enjoyed this workshop; I have read books about steel making but really learned a lot by attending this class. I look forward to attending more classes in the future.” - Kevin Igielski, Heidtman Steel.
Our Steel 101 workshop will explain the steel making process from raw materials to blast furnace (or electric arc furnace) iron production through the casting and rolling processes.
The goal of this workshop is to provide an easy yet comprehensive introduction to the steel industry. We will walk through the various product segments (Plate, Flat Rolled, Long products – Bar & Structural, Pipe & Tube) as well as the major applications/end uses for these products.
Included will be a discussion of the quality and commercial aspects of the flat rolled steel market as well as an explanation of how steel is sold.
Some workshops include an optional tour of a steel mill facility.
This workshop will run over 1.5 days, including the mill tour.
Please consult the Full Program link for more information.
All sessions will be taught by instructors with substantial hands-on experience in the business. Each instructor has a minimum of 30 years experience in their area of expertise.
“I thoroughly enjoyed this workshop! The Power Points and explanations were easy to understand and a take-home book was provided that further supplemented the information. The instructors were extremely knowledgeable with extensive and vast steel experience. The culmination of the conference was the trip to a steel mill and seeing first-hand what we had learned. I would recommend this conference to anyone that wants to know more about steel production in mills.” - Joanna Kronberg (Consolidated Systems, Inc.).
