Steel 101 Workshop

Date And Location To Be Announced.

"I thoroughly enjoyed this workshop! The Power Points and explanations were easy to understand and a take-home book was provided that further supplemented the information. The instructors were extremely knowledgeable with extensive and vast steel experience. The culmination of the conference was the trip to a steel mill and seeing first-hand what we had learned. I would recommend this conference to anyone that wants to know more about steel production in mills."
- Joanna Kronberg (Consolidated Systems, Inc.)

Our Steel 101 workshop will explain the steel making process from raw materials to blast furnace (or electric arc furnace) iron production through the casting and rolling processes.

The goal of this workshop is to provide an easy yet comprehensive introduction to the steel industry. We will walk through the various product segments (Plate, Flat Rolled, Long products – Bar & Structural, Pipe & Tube) as well as the major applications/end uses for these products.

Included will be a discussion of the quality and commercial aspects of the flat rolled steel market as well as an explanation of how steel is sold.

Some workshops include an optional tour of a steel mill facility.

This workshop will run over 1.5 days, including the mill tour.

"Great introduction to the manufacture of steel products. I can see where this would be really useful to people beginning down the path of steel procurement and usage."- Jerry Schulze, Midmark Corporation
