Our Steel 101 workshop will explain the steel making process from raw materials to blast furnace (or electric arc furnace) iron production through the casting and rolling processes.
The goal of this workshop is to provide an easy yet comprehensive introduction to the steel industry. We will walk through the various product segments (Plate, Flat Rolled, Long products – Bar & Structural, Pipe & Tube) as well as the major applications/end uses for these products.
Included will be a discussion of the quality and commercial aspects of the flat rolled steel market as well as an explanation of how steel is sold.
Some workshops include an optional tour of a steel mill facility.
This workshop will run over 1.5 days, including the mill tour.
