Meet Steel Market Update Publisher, Associates & Instructors at METALCON

Steel Market Update will be an active exhibitor in this year’s METALCON International exhibition sponsored by the MCA (Metal Construction Association)at the Georgia World Congress Center. The event will run from noon on Tuesday, October 11th through the 13th.

Joining us will be a number of our associates, speakers from our Construction & Steel Summit conference which is being held in the same facility the day prior to the beginning of METALCON and instructors from our various steel training programs.

SMU will be located in Booth #1049 back in the “Green Island” area of the Hall. Of course, half the fun of an exhibition is walking the floor and being exposed to various companies and products associated with the metals and construction industries.

On Tuesday, working with SMU will be two of our instructors:

John Eckstein who is one of our Steel 101 instructors and recently retired metallurgist and operations manager with Severstal Sparrows Point. John has extensive production knowledge of the steel making and rolling process. He was part of the Bethlehem team when Galvalume was invented. If you have questions about flat rolled steels, Mr. Eckstein is an excellent sourc

e.

Also joining us for a portion of Tuesday will be Andre Marshall and Jack Marshall of Crunch Risk, LLC. Andre is the lead instructor for our Hedging Price Risk workshop. If you have questions about the HR Futures market, OTC swaps and other financial instruments used to hedge your risk against steel pricing volatility Andre and his brother Jack are two of the best resources available and very well capable of communicating with both the steel and financial communities.

John Packard, publisher of Steel Market Update, and other members of the SMU team will be manning the both on all three days of the show.

Others expected to be available from time to time include: John Anton, Manager of Steel Services, IHS Global Insight, Roger Sieja, contributing writer on prepainted steel, Paul Lowery, contributing writer and CEO of Steel Research Associates, Tim Dennis, contributing writer and CEO of Sun States Steel and others are expected to make themselves available from time to time.
