SteelBenchmarker International Prices

SteelBenchmarker, a World Steel Dynamics company, reports on world and domestic pricing from their perspective twice per month. They provided SMU their latest pricing which was published earlier this week. Here is how they see the steel and scrap markets at this moment:

Mainland China

Hot rolled band has increased $1 in the Chinese domestic markets to $562 per metric ton ($510 short ton). Cold rolled coil was reported to have decreased $2 to $692 per metric ton ($628 per short ton). Rebar pricing in China decreased $3 to $567 per metric ton, and standard plate decreased $2 to $561 per metric ton ($509 per short ton).

World Export Market

Export prices for hot rolled band increased $2 in the world market to $619 per metric ton ($562 short ton). Cold rolled coil export prices increased $19 to $733 per metric ton ($665 short ton) while standard plate export prices have decreased $9 to $674 per metric ton ($611 per short ton).

Eastern USA Pricing

Hot rolled band pricing for the US, east of the Mississippi, increased $16 per short ton over the last two weeks to $702 per short ton. Cold rolled coil has increased $20 to $808 per short ton, and standard plate has increased $17 to $922 per short ton.

Shredded scrap has increased $15 to $449 per gross ton, #1 heavy melting scrap has increased $11 to $409 per gross ton, and #1 Busheling has increased $19 to $494 per gross ton. (Source: SteelBenchmarker)
