February Domestic Mill Shipments Rose by 21% Compared to February 2011
According to a recently released AISI report, domestic mill shipments of carbon steel products declined by 1% during the month of February compared to the previous month. When looking at February 2012 vs. the same month in 2011 shipments rose by 21% from 6,482,604 tons to 7,856,601 tons.
For the first two months 2012 domestic mills shipped 15,807,935 tons of carbon steel and 16,905,275 tons including stainless and alloy products. This represents an increase of 16.6% compared to 2011.
Hot rolled shipments totaled 1,727,859 tons which is down 134,682 tons from the prior month.
Cold rolled shipments totaled 921,530 tons which is 24,455 tons lower than the month of January.
Galvanized shipments totaled (HDG) 1,484,220 tons which represented an increase of 100,031 tons above January shipment levels.
Galvalume/Aluminized shipments totaled 115,461 tons which is 17,642 tons lower than January.- Related Categories:
