AK Steel Announces Flat Rolled Price Increase
AK Steel announced a new round of price increases on Monday evening raising prices on hot rolled, cold rolled, galvanized and aluminized by $30 per ton. The last “official” price increase out of AK Steel was on December 9, 2010 when they took their flat rolled steel prices up by $40 per ton.
Here is the original press release from AK Steel announcing the new increase: “West Chester, OH, December 20, 2010—AK Steel (NYSE: AKS) said today that it will increase current spot market base prices by $30 per ton for all carbon flat-rolled steel products, effective immediately with new orders. AK Steel said that the price increase is in response to increased demand for carbon steel products, as well as the need to recover higher costs for steelmaking inputs.”If you would like to see more on this story in tonight’s newsletter, CLICK HERE for a free trial.
