Duferco Farrell Advises Customers Of Flat Rolled Steel Price Change
Today, Duferco Farrell, NLMK-Indiana & Sharon Coatings advised their customers of a flat rolled steel pricing change effective immediately for all new March orders. The mill came out with specific base price increases on hot rolled, cold rolled and galvanized steel coils.
Based on the analysis provided by our internal steel expert, the price increase on hot rolled came to $60 per ton while the cold rolled and coated price increases totaled $80 per ton.
This is the first non-ArcelorMittal mill we have seen which has increased the spread between hot roll and cold rolled / coated steel base prices. The traditional spread has been $100 per ton ($5.00/cwt). AMUSA has been pushing to get a $120 spread accepted by the marketplace and it appears the Duferco Farrell, NLMK-IN, Sharon Coating group of mills are buying in with their latest pricing announcement.
Steel Market Update will be publishing more regarding these increases in our Sunday evening newsletter. We will also publish the exact base prices announced by these mills as well as other mills as we try to stay in step with each North American steel mill.
