Price Volatility & Hedging Steel Price Risk Workshop In Chicago
On Tuesday, July 12, 2011 Steel Market Update in partnership with Andre Marshall of Crunch Risk, LLC and sponsored by the CME Group will hold a one day workshop addressing the subject of Hedging Price Volatility caused by fluctuating steel prices.
Andre Marshall is a specialist in Risk Management with over 20 years of commodity trading and financial risk management experience. Mr. Marshall has focused on the financial side of trading, having originated derivatives for Koch Supply & Trading and subsequently starting his own brokerage firm in 2005. Mr. Marshall has been engaged in the steel space since 2001 and is well known in the industry as the de-facto broker to the trade for steel futures. Crunch Risk, LLC is a registered OTC Broker with the CME/NYMEX exchange in Hot Rolled Coil.
Mr. Marshall will walk us through a three step process regarding the use of financial instruments with the intent to hedge price risk.
1) Understand the Products
2) How the Exchange Works
3) The Art of the Trade
Steel Market Update has requested that Mr. Marshall provide real examples of hedging strategies that both work – and do not work. One of our goals is to provide a “hands on” experience to assist in understanding the concepts, products and learning to recognize the best opportunities to utilize hedging strategies in your purchasing or sales functions. We encourage those attending our workshop to come prepared with real examples and prepared to discuss the “Art of the Trade” in detail.
You will be able to access a complete program on our website which will go into more depth regarding the goals of this program. The full program and registration page are up and running on our website.
The workshop will be held in downtown Chicago at the CME Group/Chicago Board of Trade Building and will include a tour of the CME trading floor. Lunch and breaks will be included.
