June 17, 2010 – Association of Women in the Metals Industry (AWMI) Carolina’s Chapter (which includes Georgia) will have their regional meeting at the Marriott Hotel Perimeter Center in Atlanta, Georgia. This should be a very interesting meeting as the topic is about the impact of trading companies and the speakers include: John Foster of Continho & Ferrostaal, Kevin McManus of Tata/Corus, Jack Chen of AA Metals and John Packard of Steel Market Update. John has been asked to conduct a seminar about the steel distribution industry which is something John worked in for 21 years and then serviced as a mill and trading company agent for another 10 of his 33 years involved in the steel industry. October 19, 2010 – Steel Market Update in conjunction with Metalcon will conduct our first half-day seminar about the flat rolled steel industry and it's relationship with the metal building and construction industry. Our conference will be held on Tuesday afternoon – prior to the AKZO Nobel cocktail party and prior to the official opening of Metalcon on Wednesday. A perfect opportunity to arrive to Las Vegas early – learn more about the status of the flat rolled business and its impact on the construction industry – and then enjoy the AKZO cocktail party (if invited) or take a client out to dinner and see the sights of Las Vegas before enjoying the opening of the Metalcon show the following day.
