latest information on flat rolled imports through the month of June
Every Tuesday the Department of Commerce updates the steel import license data. We have captured the information for your review going back to February 2009. May 2010 is based on preliminary census data (not final) with final census numbers expected to be reported on July 27th. The June numbers are based on preliminary license data which is updated weekly.
A quick review of the numbers indicates a reduction in imports between May and June if these numbers hold up as published today. June hot rolled is at its lowest numbers since January 2010, cold rolled number is at the lowest level since August 2009, galvanized is in line with May numbers and “other coated” which includes Galvalume and Aluminized is at the higher end of the recent range and twice as much as this time last year.
