SMU Comparison Price Indices: Hot Rolled Hits $660
Written by John Packard
Just about all of the steel indices monitored by Steel Market Update have benchmark hot rolled coil at, or very close to, $660 per ton ($33.00/cwt) as of this past week. Prices have risen by approximately $5 to $10 per ton during the week. The short term trend is for prices to remain firm and probably move higher – especially if scrap prices rise by more than $20 per ton.

FOB Points for each index:
SMU: Domestic Mill, East of the Rockies.
CRU: Midwest Mill, East of the Rockies.
SteelBenchmarker: Domestic Mill, East of the Mississippi.
SteelOrbis: Midwest Domestic Mill.
Platts: Within 200-300 mile radius of Northern Indiana Domestic Mill.
