SSAB Announces Price Increase

Earlier today (January 14, 2014) SSAB announced to its customers an increase for all new orders for non-contract As Rolled Carbon and High Strength Low Alloy, Normalized Plate, Alloy Plate including Quenched and Tempered, Cut to Length and Plate > 72” wide and Hot Rolled Coil > 72” wide, by a minimum of $30 per ton. The increase is effective immediately for all new orders.
Plate prices prior to the SSAB price increase ranged from $820 to $860 per ton delivered, according to SMU sources.
SSAB is known for plate and is only a factor in the over 72″ wide hot rolled coil market. Hot rolled coils with widths under 72″ tend to be priced with the rest of the market which based on Steel Market Update index the range on hot rolled this week is $650 to $690 per ton.
