NLMK USA Slab Receipts and Flat Rolled Sales

Novolipetsk (NLMK) reported flat rolled steel sales for their USA division.The parent company also provided slab sales from Russia to the USA division by quarter going back to Q1 2012.
Hot rolled steel tonnage sold by NLMK USA during the 1st Quarter 2014 was 680,000 tons (net tons). Cold rolled sales totaled 403,000 tons and galvanized 161,000 tons. The NLMK USA division sold a total of 1,244,000 tons of flat rolled during the 1st Quarter 2014.
This is a significant improvement over both Q1 2013 and Q1 2012 as well as an improvement over the 1,017,000 tons sold during the 4th Quarter 2013.
There were a large number of slabs shipped from Russia to NLMK USA during the 1st Quarter 2014. NLMK USA received 407,000 tons during 1st Quarter. Compare that number against the 58,000 tons received during 1Q 2013 and 118,000 tons during 1Q 2012.
According to US Department of Commerce data, the United States received a total of 946,325 net tons of Russian slabs during the 1st Quarter 2014 (March is license data and not preliminary or final census data quite yet).
