NLMK USA Production Up in Q3

NLMK USA crude steel production at NLMK Indiana grew 11.5 percent q/q in the third quarter to 175,000 tonnes (192,901 tons). Capacity utilization increased to 91 percent. Rolled steel output at NLMK USA totaled 515,000 tonnes (567,680 tons) a decline of 4.9 percent quarter over quarter.
Sales for third quarter rolled-steel totaled 531,000 tonnes (585,317 tons), down 1.2 percent from second quarter. Steel demand for the quarter was steady with a decrease in cold-rolled sales offset by higher volume sales for hot-rolled and galvanized steel.
Crude steel production at NLMK Indiana for the first nine months of 2014 totaled 501,000 tonnes (552,248 tons), a decrease of 2.4 percent year over year. Rolled steel production at NLMK USA went up by 13.4 percent year over year to 1.507 million tonnes (1.66 million tons).
NLMK USA sales at the end of third quarter were up by 12.7 percent y/y to 1.525 million tonnes (1.68 million tons).
NLMK USA is comprised of NLMK Indiana, NLMK Pennsylvania (formerly, Duferco Farrell) and NLMK Sharon Coating. The USA operations manufacture slabs, hot-rolled, cold-rolled and galvanized products. NLMK Indiana is a mini-mill with an electric arc furnace (EAF) steelmaking capacity of approximately 770,000 tonnes (848,765 tons) and hot-rolling capacity of 2.9 million tonnes (3.2 million tons). The NLMK USA division provides steel products to the service center, construction, pipe and tubes and machinery sectors in the U.S.
