US Steel Management Changes at PRO-TEC Coating and Granite City Works

LEIPSIC, Ohio, Jan. 14, 2016 /PRNewswire/ — PRO-TEC Coating Company, a 50/50 joint venture between United States Steel Corporation (NYSE: X) and Kobe Steel, Ltd., of Japan, announced today that Richard E. Veitch has been named the President of PRO-TEC Coating Company. This change is effective Jan. 18, 2016. Veitch succeeds Brent Rosebrook, who had been serving as Acting President since Bryan Vaughn’s retirement in June 2015.
Veitch, General Manager at Granite City Works in Granite City, Ill. since March 2009, will be succeeded by Michael Terry as Acting Plant Manager. Terry will report to Matthew Perkins, General Manager of Gary Works.
Terry began his career with National Steel at Granite City Works as a Management Trainee in 1975. He progressed through a series of increasingly responsible positions in Rolling & Finishing Operations and Maintenance. In 1983 Terry moved to Engineering and served in various positions at Granite City Works, Great Lakes Works, Midwest Plant and National Steel’s corporate headquarters in both Pittsburgh and Mishawaka, Ind. In 1997 he returned to operations as Director of Tin Mill Products, and later as Director of Sheet & Coated Products. Terry remained at Midwest following U. S. Steel’s acquisition of National Steel in 2003, and in 2004 was named General Manager – Engineering at U. S. Steel Košice in Slovakia. He returned to Granite City in 2007 with Engineering and was moved to Division Manager Steelmaking and Casting in 2009. In 2014 Terry was assigned to the Sparrow’s Point Caster project at Granite City. At the conclusion of the installation, he moved to his current role as Division Manager – Rolling & Finishing.
Terry received his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Missouri-Rolla in 1974 and his master’s degree in business administration from Webster University in 1984.
