Pam Heglund Appointed as President Mill Steel Company

Mill Steel Company, one of the nation’s largest distributors of flat-rolled carbon steel, announced the appointment of Pam Heglund to President. Heglund will be the first female president of a steel service center of this size.
Heglund was Mill Steel’s first intern, starting at the company in 2000 and serving the past five years as vice president of sales and partner. As a third generation steel leader, Heglund follows in the footsteps of grandfather Harry S. Samrick, and uncle and CEO David. S. Samrick.
“Pam played an integral part in positioning Mill Steel as an industry leader and building the robust book of business we have today. I have no doubt her expert leadership will remain constant in the new position, and this progressive transition will be seamless,” said Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer, Eric Lambert.
“This appointment is very meaningful for me,” said David Samrick. “I’ve watched Pam grow up in the steel industry and have always had great confidence in her decisions. She has my father’s gift as a commercial leader and it became very clear that steel truly is in her blood.”
Mill Steel Company, headquartered in Grand Rapids, Mich., has six processing and distribution offices located in Indiana, Alabama, Michigan and Texas as well as sales offices located in Windsor, Ont., and Chicago, Ill. Mill Street serves industries that include automotive and non-automotive transport; appliance; office furniture; commercial construction; HVAC; home goods and agriculture.
The company offers processing of flat rolled carbon steel including Cold Rolled, Hot Rolled, Hot-dipped Galvanized, Hot-dipped Galvanneal, Electrogalvanized, Galvalume, Aluminized, Pre-paint, and Specialty Grades and HSLA Products. Processing includes loop slitting, 12 slitting lines, cut-to-length / blanking, pickling, leveling and inspection, coating, painting, and temper-passing.
