CNBC’s Ron Insana to Speak at SMU Steel Summit Conference
Written by John Packard
April 3, 2018
Steel Market Update is pleased to announce the addition of Ron Insana, the highly respected commentator with TV news networks CNBC and MSNBC, as a keynote speaker. Insana will explore how the shifting domestic and global political environments could strain the economy, disrupt certain industries, and affect financial markets in the relatively near future.
With the gutting of the U.S. diplomatic corps, the American withdrawal from—or renegotiation of—key multilateral agreements, from the Paris Climate Accord to TPP to NAFTA, the United States is risking its leadership position in the world, its ability to aid its allies, and its credibility in admonishing its adversaries. While the elimination of costly regulations has been a boon to businesses and stock prices, the long-term consequences of these changes are not yet known, Insana says.
As a contributor to CNBC and MSNBC, Insana covers the most pressing economic and market issues of the day. He also delivers The Market Scoreboard Report to radio stations around the country. He has written for Money magazine and USA Today and has hosted two nationally syndicated radio programs.
For nearly three decades, Insana has been a highly respected business journalist and money manager, who began his career at the Financial News Network in 1984 and joined CNBC when FNN and CNBC merged in 1991. In addition to his work as a business journalist, Insana was the CEO of Insana Capital Partners from 2006-2008, which at its peak managed the $125 million Insana Capital Partners “Legends Fund.”
Insana is well-known for his high-profile interviews, which included Presidents Clinton and Bush; billionaire investors Warren Buffett, George Soros and Julian Robertson, among others: captains of industry from Bill Gates to Jack Welch and to the late Steve Jobs, top economists, analysts and global heads of state.
Insana was named one of the “Top 100 Business News Journalists of the 20th Century” and was nominated for a news and documentary Emmy for his role in NBC’s coverage of 9/11.
Ron is the editor of “Insana’s Market Intelligence,” a subscription-based newsletter. He has authored four books on Wall Street and is a highly regarded lecturer on domestic and global economics, financial markets and economic policy issues.
The SMU Steel Summit Conference will be held on Aug. 27-29, 2018, in Atlanta. You can find more details about the 8th SMU Steel Summit Conference on our website: www.SteelMarketUpdate.com/Events/Steel-Summit or you can contact our office at 772-932-7538.
