As a former White House press secretary, Ari Fleischer has extensive experience briefing the media and the public on the issues of the day. As a keynote speaker at Steel Market Update’s Steel Summit Aug. 28 in Atlanta, Fleischer will share “The Daily Briefing—Politics, Policy and the Economy,” giving attendees an insider’s view of current events in Washington and their impact on the economy and the steel industry.
Fleischer served as White House press secretary and primary spokesperson for President George W. Bush from 2001 to 2003. He was the administration’s spokesman during the historic presidential recount, September 11th, two wars and the anthrax attack. His best-selling book, Taking Heat, details his years in the White House. After the 2012 presidential election, Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus appointed Fleischer as co-chair of the RNC’s Growth and Opportunity Project to find out why Republicans lost that year and to chart a path forward for the Republican Party. He is a FOX News contributor and has appeared frequently on many of the leading political and news shows. Fleischer is a native of Pound Ridge, N.Y., and a 1982 graduate of Vermont’s Middlebury College.
