North Star BlueScope plans upgrades to Ohio plant

North Star BlueScope Steel has selected Italian mill equipment provider Danieli to upgrade equipment at its Quality Strip Production (QSP) facility in Delta, Ohio.
Danieli will modernize the original run-out table laminar cooling system. Additionally, a new down coiler is planned to be installed downstream of the two original coilers supplied in 1995, the company said.
“These upgrades are meant to further debottleneck the mill and support the plant’s increased production capacity targets,” Danieli said a press release.
The cooling system installation will be carried out in two phases. The down coiler installation will take place mostly during plant operation, the company said.
The projects are expected to be complete by the end of first quarter 2027. Three scheduled outages will be taken to accommodate the work, Danieli said.
