Glenfarne Alaska LNG and POSCO ink preliminary partnership

Glenfarne Alaska LNG and POSCO signed a preliminary strategic agreement during the GasTech Conference in Milan, Italy, last week.
Over the next 20 years, Glenfarne Alaska LNG agreed that it will provide the South Korean steelmaker with 1 million metric tons (mt) per year of liquified natural gas (LNG). POSCO will provide steel used by the energy infrastructure company for its 807-mile high-pressure pipeline in Alaska.
The pipeline will connect the state’s North Slope reserves of gas to Southcentral Alaska and its planned LNG export terminal. President Donald Trump approved the project as his administration seeks investment from nations like South Korea and Japan in exchange for them buying exports of gas from the US.
Global demand for LNG ramped up after many nations sanctioned energy from Russia following its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
