Lock Joint Tube buys Wisconsin mechanical tube plant

    Written by Laura Miller

Lock Joint Tube has acquired the Tectron mechanical tube product line and associated manufacturing facility in De Pere, Wisc., from Atkore Inc.

The Tectron facility manufactures mechanical tubing in a variety of shapes and wall thicknesses.

Its products are used in agricultural equipment, conveyors, off-road vehicles, and lawn and gardening equipment.

Lock Joint Tube is a supplier of mechanical and structural grade tubing headquartered in South Bend, Ind. The company told SMU it is excited to expand to its seventh manufacturing location.

“This acquisition enhances our footprint and reinforces the Lock Joint Tube commitment to continuous improvement and innovation on behalf of our wonderful customers and strategic partners,” said Keith Chrise, VP of sales and marketing at LJT.

“We feel the addition of more production capacity in a great location will only strengthen our goals to provide excellent service that our customers deserve,” he added.

Terms of the transaction were not provided, according to Atkore’s announcement of the deal.

Atkore said the divestiture will allow it to focus on its electrical infrastructure portfolio. The Harvey, Ill.-based company also makes electrical conduit, fittings, and cable products.

“We’re pleased to have worked with Lock Joint Tube on this sale, as they assume ownership of the facility and continue serving mechanical tube customers and end markets with this particular product line,” said Bill Waltz, Atkore president and CEO.
