Zekelman names new president of electrical business

Chicago-based pipe and tube producer Zekelman Industries has promoted Kevin Heffernan to president of the company’s electrical business.

Hefferman joined Zekelman in January 2025 as SVP of electrical. He has over 25 years of executive leadership in industrial and commercial markets.

“Kevin has a strong record of commercial transformation, including a documented period of exceptional performance at Encore Wire prior to joining our team,” commented Tom Muth, president, pipe and tube at Zekelman Industries.

The appointment, effective Jan. 1, follows the planned retirement of Jim Hays, who has led Zekelman’s electrical business for 12 years and been with the company for 14.

“Jim made a significant impact on our culture with his focus on customer service and his willingness to help teammates in any way possible,” Muth said. “This is a bittersweet moment as we say farewell to a remarkable leader.”
