Metallus and USW reach third tentative contract agreement
Written by Kristen DiLandro
Metallus and the United Steelworkers (USW) have agreed to another tentative four-year contract, the specialty metal producer announced.
The Canton, Ohio-based company and union leaders negotiated two previous tentative agreements, but neither was ratified by the union. Members rejected agreements on Oct. 30 and Dec. 18, 2025. The USW will schedule and announce the date of its next vote.
Metallus and the USW continued to operate without disruption by extending the terms of their existing labor contract through Jan. 26, 2026. The latest tentative agreement extends the contract through Feb. 12. Both parties agreed that extending the contract provides the union with sufficient time for USW member outreach.
“We have reached a new tentative agreement that reflects our ongoing effort to balance both the needs of our employees and the priorities of the company,” said Metallus CEO Mike Williams.
Williams added, “The tentative contract offers a fair and reasonable resolution, and we value the constructive cooperation from all parties to reach a solution that benefits our employees, maintains job stability, and supports Metallus’ future success.”
The contract applies to ~1,200 bargaining employees at the company’s Canton, Ohio, facility.
