The United Steelworkers (USW) Local 1123 has ratified a four-year labor contract with Metallus effective Feb. 5.
The Canton, Ohio-based specialty metal supplier announced the latest union vote resulted in a ratified agreement. This vote marked the third contract proposal negotiated between USW members and the company. Members voted not to ratify previous contract proposals on Oct. 30 and Dec. 18, 2025.
“We are pleased to have reached a mutually beneficial contract that reflects the dedication of our workforce and the company. We thank our employees and union partners for their constructive engagement throughout the bargaining process,” said Metallus’s CEO Mike Williams.
Williams added, “This contract reflects our shared commitment to safety, innovation, and long‑term competitiveness. It reinforces our strategic priorities and aligns with our disciplined focus on strong cash generation and sustained profitability across all market cycles.”
USW District 1 Director Donnie Blatt, who chaired the negotiating committee, said, “Local union negotiators worked collaboratively and diligently to secure a fair and equitable agreement that members can be proud of. The contract recognizes the value of the work members perform for Metallus around the clock, every day.”
Blatt continued, “It also fosters a constructive relationship between the union and management, positioning the company for continued success over the next four years.”
The current agreement is effective through Sept. 30, 2029. It includes annual increases in base wages, as well as healthcare and retirement benefits for union members.
