Varsteel Ltd said acquiring Pacfica Steel’s structural steel division supports its geographic expansion strategy.

The Lethbridge, Alberta-based steel service center aims to grow its presence from “coast to coast.”

The company’s April 17 statement explains how the acquisition of Pacifica Steel’s structural steel facility in British Columbia realizes its expansion strategy.

Additionally, the acquisition now positions Varsteel as the largest steel distributor in Western Canada.

Gerald Varazi, president and CEO of Varsteel, said customers can now expect a wider selection.

“This expanded product range gives our customers access to a broader selection of high-quality structural steel, while maintaining the exceptional service and expertise they have come to expect and trust,” said Varazi.

Pacifica Steel provides high-grade steel to the US and Canada. The acquisition now allows Varsteel to stock up to 44-inch wide jumbo width flange beams.
