New York manufacturing growth slows in September

Manufacturing activity in New York state continued to expand in September, but at a slower pace than in August, according to the Federal Reserve Bank of New York’s latest Empire State Manufacturing Survey.
After hitting the highest point since November 2024 in August, the headline general business conditions index fell 13 points to 7.6 in September. At the same time, the September index’s three-month moving average (3MMA) rose to the highest level since early 2022 (Figure 1).
