Steel Market Update analyzes the health of the U.S. manufacturing sector, with a focus on industrial production, manufacturing capacity utilization, durable goods new orders, factory orders, and inventories. This is important as the health of the manufacturing economy has a direct bearing on the health of the steel industry. By comparing multiple data sources that relate to the same subject and indirectly to steel demand we believe we can obtain a relatively unbiased view of a major sector of steel consumption. We perform this analysis quarterly.
