SMU Community Chat with John Armstrong of Reibus International

Guests: John Armstrong

Reibus International founder and CEO John Armstrong will be the featured guest on the next SMU Community Chat webinar on Wednesday, May 3, at 11 a.m. ET.

The live webinar is free. No recording available.

We’ll talk about the outlook for both steel and the broader economy in Q2 and heading into 2H: How are customers navigating a market that appears to have peaked? How will higher interest rates and tighter credit conditions impact new projects? And how might inventory management have changed as a result?

We’ll also discuss recent layoffs at Reibus, why they were necessary, and the lessons the company took away from some growth plans, including in AI, that didn’t pan out as hoped.

Armstrong will in addition share his thoughts on developments in the world of digital marketplaces, why their time has arrived, and what that means for how metal is bought, sold, and delivered. Keep in mind that Reibus handles not only steel but also aluminum, copper, ferrous and nonferrous scrap, and logistics – so we’ll be discussing more than just steel.

We’ll take your questions, too!

As always, we’ll keep it to about 45 minutes. You can drop in, learn something – and then get on with your day.

PS – If you’d like to see past Community Chat webinars, you can find those here. Our most recent was with Josh Spoores, principal analyst at CRU (SMU’s parent company).
