SMU Community Chat with Rick Marabito of Olympic Steel

Guests: Rick Marabito

Olympic Steel CEO Rick Marabito will be the featured speaker on our next SMU Community Chat on Wednesday, June 15, at 11 am ET.

The live webinar is free. A recording of it is free only to SMU members.

We’ll talk about why the sky is not falling even though carbon prices and futures are softening. In other words, there are reasons for optimism as you manage through the second half of the year – among them the impact of infrastructure spending in 2023.

We’ll also discuss other important topics – everything from mergers and acquisitions to decarbonization – from a service center perspective. Recall that many of the headlines to date around C02 have focused on emissions at the mill level. Less attention has been paid to emissions across the broader supply chain.

Marabito is in a good position to talk about these issues because Cleveland-based Olympic is an important player in the service center space not only for carbon flat-rolled steel but also for stainless, aluminum, and pipe and tube. That means the company has its finger on the pulse of a range of end markets across the US.

As always, we’ll keep it to about 45 minutes. You can drop in, learn something – and then get on with your day.

Also, check out our Previous Webinars page, if you’d like to see recordings of past webinars, including our last one with Flack Global Metals (FGM) founder and CEO Jeremy Flack.
