Canadian Distributor Flat Rolled Shipments/Inventories in November

Canadian shipments for all steel products in the month of November were 398,000 net tons, an increase of 11.6 percent from the month before and an increase of 11.3 percent from November 2015. Inventories at the end of the month stood at 1,087,700 tons, up 0.7 percent from last month but down 5.7 percent from the same month one year ago.
The daily average receipt rate for November was 19,290 tons per day (21 day month), up from 16,035 tons per day in October (20 day month). Total November steel receipts were 405,100 tons, 84,400 tons higher than the October figure. According to the MSCI, total steel product inventories stood at 2.7 months at the end of November, down from 3.0 months the month before.
Flat Rolled
Canadian shipments of flat rolled products for the month of November were 217,100 tons, an increase of 10.9 percent from October and an increase of 6.2 percent from the same month one year ago. Inventories at the end of the month were 633,900 tons, up 4.8 percent from last month but down 8.0 percent from the same month one year ago. The daily receipt rate for November was 11,729 tons per day, up from 8,080 tons per day in October. Total tonnage received was 246,300 tons, down from 161,600 tons the month before. Flat rolled inventories stood at 2.9 months in November, down from 3.1 months of supply in October.
Plate
Canadian shipments for plate products in the month of November were 66,400 tons, an increase of 4.4 percent from the previous month and an increase of 6.2 percent from November 2015. Inventories at the end of the month were 187,400 tons, down 4.3 percent from last month and down 4.8 percent from the same month one year ago. The daily average receipt rate for November was 2,762 tons per day, down from 2,945 tons per day the month before. Plate inventories ended the month at 2.8 months, down from 3.1 months the month before.
Pipe and Tube
Canadian shipments for pipe and tube products in the month of November were 52,100 tons, an increase of 13.0 percent from the month before and an increase of 9.7 percent from the same month last year. Inventories at the end of the month were 119,900 tons, down 3.1 percent from last month and down 9.4 percent from the same month one year ago. The daily average receipt rate for November was 2,300 tons per day, up from 2,290 tons per day the month before. Total months on hand for pipe and tube inventories stood at 2.3 months, down from 2.7 months at the end of October.
