NLMK USA Galvanized Steel Sales Higher in Q4 and Calendar Year 2016

NLMK USA sales grew 3.0 percent in 2016, said parent company NLMK due to stable customer demand, trader restocking and trade restrictions on rolled steel imports. Steel sales for 2016 totaled 1.817 million tonnes, up from 1.764 million tonnes in 2015.
Total fourth quarter sales of 382,000 tonnes were down 14 percent from third quarter but were 7 percent higher than Q4 2015.
Fourth quarter galvanized steel sales, at 93,000 tonnes, grew 4 percent quarter over quarter and gained 19 percent compared to the year ago quarter. For the full year, galvanized sales of 359,000 tonnes were 10 percent higher than sold in 2015.
Hot and cold-rolled steel sales fell from third quarter by 17 percent and 19 percent, respectively. Compared to Q4 2015, hot-rolled sales of 175,000 tonnes declined 1 percent but cold-rolled sales of 114,000 tonnes increased by 10 percent.
Cold-rolled sales were also improved for the 12 months of 2016 at 544,000 tonnes, a 10 percent increase from 2015. Hot rolled sales at 905,000 tonnes for the year, was down 3 percent.
