SSAB Raises Plate/HRC by $40
Written by John Packard
November 6, 2017
On Monday, SSAB sent a letter to customers advising of the company’s intention to raise spot transaction prices by a minimum of $40 per ton ($2.00/cwt) effective immediately.
The increase covers all “…As-Rolled Mill Plate, Cut-to-Length Plate >72”, Hot Rolled Coils >72”, as well as Normalized and Quenched & Tempered Plate.”
SSAB also advised that all published extras would be applied.
The SSAB move was after Nucor announced an increase on Friday. On Tuesday (today) ArcelorMittal followed the other two mills.
Our steel plate index has not yet seen a move toward higher prices and we will wait to see if these pricing moves help solidify market spot pricing.
