June Steel 101 Workshop to Include Two Mill Tours
Written by John Packard
March 9, 2018
We believe we will have something special for those attending Steel Market Update’s Steel 101 workshop on June 5-6 in Arkansas, which will include tours of both the Nucor Hickman and Nucor-Yamato steel plants.
This will provide a unique opportunity for those attending to see a working flat rolled mill with an electric arc furnace, a beam mill and a Castrip mill – one of only two operating in the United States.
The idea of thin-slab casting was originated by Sir Henry Bessemer in 1857. It took almost 150 years for the technology to catch up with Bessemer’s idea to produce coils directly from liquid steel. There are over 1500 patents associated with the Castrip technology.
We are working on hotel arrangements, which we hope to have concluded by the end of this week. If you want to secure a spot in this workshop, contact Brett Linton at 770-596-6268 or Diana at 772-932-7538. For more information, contact us at info@SteelMarketUpdate.com
