Kloeckner Metals’ Greenville, S.C., branch is the fifth and latest to have been awarded an IATF 16949 management system certificate for processing flat rolled steel, stainless and aluminum, including slitting, cut to length, and configured blanks. The other branches include Murfreesboro, Tenn.; Calvert, Ala.; Cincinnati, Ohio; and Monterrey, Mexico.
IATF 16949:2016 was jointly developed by International Automotive Task Force (IATF) members and submitted to the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) for approval and publication. IATF 16949:2016 is an international management system automotive “sector-specific” technical specification based on ISO 9001:2015 and several other international automotive requirements.

“As Kloeckner Metals continues to expand in the automotive sector, it is imperative that we continue to maintain our certifications, IATF 16949 being the latest and most comprehensive,” said Anthony Munno, Kloeckner Metal’s Vice President, Automotive Business Development. “Now having five of our facilities certified indicates that we are committed to support and expand our automotive business. Not only does this achievement benefit automotive, although it is a requirement of many of our automotive customers, it is a more stringent qualification that goes far beyond the ISO standards of the past, which affects all of our business segments. This new standard increases the involvement of our leadership team while bringing quality and continual improvement to the heart of the organization. Also, it brings together a standard that is synergistic with our sister company, Becker Stahl, operating in Europe.”
