Next Community Chat Webinar: John Anton, May 20th
Written by John Packard
May 15, 2020
Our Wednesday SMU Community Chat Webinars have been a tremendous success. Each webinar is unique as we try to vary the subject matter and speakers. For those who have been tuning in to these free sessions at 11 AM ET, you already know that our speakers don’t always agree with one another as to what to expect out of the U.S. economy over the next 3-12 months.
This week, we will host John Anton of IHS Markit. Anton is the lead steel expert and the director of the IHS Markit pricing and purchasing service. He has been an active participant in our SMU Steel Summit Conferences over the years (he will be speaking again this year). He was an early warning beacon when it came to COVID-19 and the current pandemic. He told a group at the FMA conference in early March that most economists were being “too optimistic” about the impact the virus was going to have on the economy. On Wednesday, May 20, we will find out if Anton is joining with Dr. Kuehl in predicting a “V” shaped recovery (early word is he does not). You can register for this week’s webinar by clicking here.
