Evraz NA’s Line Pipe Passes Test for Use in Hydrogen Transmission
Written by Laura Miller
July 11, 2022
Evraz North America has completed fracture toughness testing of its high-frequency welded line pipe for use in hydrogen transmission.
The tested line pipe was produced from steel melted at Evraz’s EAF steel mill in Regina, Sask., Canada, and the welded pipe was also completed at the Regina mill.
The company expects to complete full qualification testing by the end of the year, which would make it the first line pipe producer in North America to qualify for high-pressure, 100% hydrogen pipeline transportation.
RINA-CSM SpA, an independent European research center, is responsible for the testing.
Last month, Evraz idled production of large-diameter pipe at the Regina mill due to soft demand for large-diameter pipe.
