Wheeling-Nippon Steel Adjusts Most Galvanized Extras Lower

Wheeling-Nippon Steel made downward revisions to their galvanized coating extras on Tuesday, with new extras going into effect immediately.
Last week, Steel Dynamics and NLMK USA also revised their galvanized coating extras, with their new prices going into effect in August 2022. SMU provides an updated comparison of mill galvanized coating extras here in the Resources section of our website, comparing G30, G60 and G90 coating weights between 10 US mills. Detailed extras by individual mill are also available via the right-side navigation menu on that page.
SMU has analyzed the old and new extras below. Select Wheeling-Nippon extras decreased between 3-20%, with an average decrease of 13%. Wheeling-Nippon extras were previously revised in April 2022.

Some sources also speculated that plate could see further price increases thanks to modest but steady demand, lower imports, mill maintenance outages, and end markets less immediately affected by tariff-related disruptions.
