Written by Brett Linton
July 25, 2022
Nucor made downward revisions to most of its galvanized coating extras on Friday, with new extras going into effect Sept. 3, 2022.
“Consistent with our practice to monitor the cost of zinc, we have revised our galvanized coating weight extras effective with orders acknowledged for week ending September 3, 2022,” a Nucor press release reads. “Price extras can be accessed under the “Sheet” tab at www.nucornow.com/announcements and select a division.”
Earlier this month, Steel Dynamics, NLMK USA, Wheeling-Nippon, and US Steel also revised their coating extras. SMU provides an updated comparison of mill galvanized coating extras in the Resources section of our website, comparing G30, G60 and G90 coating weights between ten US mills. Detailed extras by individual mill are also available via the right-side navigation menu on that page.
SMU has analyzed the old and new galvanized extras below. Select Nucor extras decreased as much as 23%, with an average decrease of 16%. Nucor extras were previously revised in April and went into effect on June 4, 2022.
