US Steel Plans Week-Long Outage at Big River Steel Works in Oct.

US Steel will take a week-long outage on its compact-strip production (CSP®) line at its Big River Steel Works in Osceola, Ark., in October.
The planned maintenance outage is expected to take place from Oct. 23–30, a US Steel spokeswoman confirmed to SMU.
Big River Steel’s six-stand CSP continuous caster has an annual capacity of more than 3.6 million tons, producing coils up to 76-inches wide. Supplied by the SMS Group, it is one of the widest CSP lines in the world.
The Pittsburgh-based flat-rolled steelmaker also has an outage planned for its No. 3 Mon Valley Works blast furnace, which will last for one month beginning in September. The outage, to apply shotcrete to the furnace near Pittsburgh, was originally schedule for October but was pulled up to September. The No. 3 furnace has a daily capacity of approximately 2,900 tons.
