Sabel Steel Service Inc. has acquired Beaumont, Texas-based metals service center Sampson Steel Corp., effective Thursday, June 1.
“Sampson Steel joins the Sabel Steel family with 107 years of history in the metals industry,” Keith Sabel, president and CEO of Sabel Steel, said in a statement via Linkedin.
Stephen Eisen, previously president of Sampson Steel, will remain as the branch manager, according to the statement.
“Stephen and Sampson Steel’s dedicated employees will continue offering Southeast Texas customers the same great service that they have been experiencing since 1916,” Sabel added. “With Stephen’s past experiences and excellent leadership, we look forward to our continued success with our newest branch in Texas.”
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The acquisition of Sampson Steel is Montgomery, Ala.-based Sabel’s first in Texas, allowing the service center and wholesaler to serve the Gulf Coast region from Texas to Florida, the release said.
Sabel Steel serves the southern US through its nine steel service centers across Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, and Texas, stocking a wide variety of products including steel sheet and plate. Founded in 1856, Sabel also operates two scrap yards, a rebar fabrication division, and a wholesale center.
