Nippon Steel taps Hashimoto as CEO

Nippon Steel said Eiji Hashimoto has been named chairman and CEO, effective April 1.
Hashimoto currently serves as president of the Japanese steelmaker. He was quoted earlier this month saying he believes Nippon’s planned buy of U.S. Steel will be successful.
Additionally, Tadashi Imai, currently EVP, will serve as president and COO, effective April 1, Nippon said in a statement. Imai is also head of the company’s green transformation development, among other projects, according to Nippon’s website.
