May 6, 2024
United Auto Workers (UAW) members have ratified a work contract with Daimler Truck North America.
The four-year agreement passed with 94.5% of members voting in favor, according to a UAW statement on Monday.
The union said the pact delivers economic gains for 7,300 workers who build Freightliner and Western Star trucks and Thomas Built Buses in North Carolina, Tennessee, and Georgia.
As previously reported, a tentative agreement was reached ahead of the contract’s expiration at midnight on Friday, April 26.
The deal includes raises of more than 25%, as well as the introduction of profit-sharing and cost-of-living (COLA) for the first time at Daimler. Additionally, UAW said the agreement will end the tiered wage system at the company.
A request for comment from Daimler North America was not returned by time of publication.
In December, UAW President Shawn Fain gave the union’s strategy to unionize non-union auto workers in the US.
