Wabash National and Steel Dynamics Inc. (SDI) have signed a 10-year supply agreement that secures “critical steel components” for Wabash’s growing operations, the company said in a press release.
The Lafayette, Ind.-based trailer manufacturer said the deal ensures high-priority capacity and a backup supply of hot-rolled, galvanized, painted steel coils, and steel crossmembers.
“We are excited to formalize our long-standing relationship with Steel Dynamics,” Wabash VP of Global Supply Chain Richard Mansilla said. “This agreement fortifies our supply chain with high-priority capacity during critical demand periods, ensuring our ability to meet customer needs without the constraints often faced by other manufacturers.”
SDI has supplied steel products to Wabash for the past 14 years. The new agreement includes backup supply from multiple SDI facilities.
Further terms were not disclosed.
“Having collaborated for many years, we are pleased to extend our partnership with Wabash through this long-term agreement,” SDI President and COO Barry Schneider said.
“This agreement aligns both of our companies to better serve the future demands of the commercial transportation industry, providing stability to our mutual customers,” he added.
Wabash said it has similar long-term agreements in place with other suppliers, including Rockland Flooring, J.B. Hunt, and Hydro.
