Nucor holds the line on published HR spot price
Written by Laura Miller
December 17, 2024
Nucor said on Monday its spot base price for hot-rolled (HR) sheet this week will again be $750 per short ton.
The company has kept its weekly HR coil consumer spot price (CSP) at that level since Nov. 12.
Likewise, the weekly spot base price for HR from California Steel Industries (CSI) is unchanged this week at $810/st, Nucor said. CSI is a joint venture of the Charlotte, N.C.-based steelmaker and JFE Steel.
Buyers reported HR coil spot prices ranging from $650-700/st in SMU’s Dec. 10 market check. Last week’s average of $675/st, FOB mill East of the Rockies, was down $5/st from the previous week.
