Worthington Steel confirmed it is closing the Worthington Samuel Coil Processing (WSCP) facility in Cleveland.
WSCP is a joint venture between Worthington Steel and Oakville, Ontario-based Samuel, Son & Co.
A spokesperson for Worthington Steel, which is headquartered in Columbus, said it is consolidating its operations in northeast Ohio. The Cleveland facility will close by the end of May.
“This was a difficult decision that was made after a lengthy analysis,” the spokesperson said.
“We will continue serving our customers from our other facilities in the area,” they added.
Nearly 80 employees will be affected by the facility’s closure.
Several employees have been offered opportunities to transfer to the WSCP facility in Twinsburg, Ohio, the spokesperson noted. Additionally, any employee who does not apply for a position at another Worthington Steel facility will be offered severance and outplacement services.
