AISI: US steel shipments decline in February

Domestic steel shipments decreased month over month and year on year in February, according to the latest data from the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI).
US steel mills shipped 7,035,936 short tons (st) in February, down 0.9% from 7,097,512 st in February 2024 and 5.4% below the 7,435,458 st in January 2025.
Year-to-date (YTD) through February, shipments stood at 14,471,991 st, nearly flat from 14,481,866 st the previous year.
Comparing YTD 2025 shipments to the first two months of 2024 shows: cold-rolled sheet, up 3%; corrosion-resistant sheet, down 3%; and hot-rolled sheet, down 6%.
