Industry veteran and longtime steel advocate Thomas A. Danjczek announced he will “finally fully retire” as senior advisor of Headwall Partners.
He served as a senior advisor to the Florida-based metals investment banking firm for more than eight years.
“Tom has been an incredible asset to Headwall since day one,” said Peter Scott, Headwall’s founder and managing partner. “His dedication, hard work, industry knowledge, and strong relationships have helped Headwall successfully execute many important transactions on behalf of our clients.”
The firm praised Danjczek for his “encyclopedic knowledge of steel manufacturing,” which comes from a storied career in the industry.
He began his career in 1969 as a foreman at Bethlehem Steel, and later held positions with Kaiser Steel and Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel. Many in the industry are familiar with him from his 15-year tenure as president of the Washington, D.C.-based Steel Manufacturers Association (SMA). He passed the torch over to the current SMA president, Philip K. Bell, in 2013.
“Tom has for more than 40 years been a fixture of the North American steel industry, and his expertise, companionship, and especially his humor, will be greatly missed by us all,” Scott added.
Danjczek told SMU he will still do some advisory work for friends in the steel industry, but is looking forward to spending more time with family, including his three children and seven grandchildren.
Congratulations, Tom! The SMU team and community wish you all the best in your full retirement!
