CRU: Turkish scrap prices remain flat

    Written by Tanya Kozlovskaia

Turkish scrap prices were unchanged week over week (w/w), with HMS and Shredded grades assessed at $340 and $355 per metric ton (mt) CFR, respectively.

Broadly speaking, fewer cargoes were being booked from the US due to fallback from the tariffs and reduced collection, though purchases have continued – market participants see this trend as more of a strategic slowdown rather than a full retreat from US-origin scrap.

Short sea shipments were heard at around $337/mt, while deep sea shipments were reported at $343/mt for HMS 80:20 grade.

While there is restocking demand for August, Turkish mills remain cautious. This is due to softening finished product prices, prompting some mills to hold back or limit volume purchases.
