Domestic mill shipments slip in July: AISI

US steel shipments decreased month over month in July, but were up from last year, according to the latest figures from the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI).
Domestic steel shipments totaled 7,797,929 short tons (st) in July. That’s down 0.7% from 7,854,290 st the previous month but is an 8.9% jump from 7,160,731 st in July 2024.
Year-to-date (YTD) shipments through July stood at 52,937,508 st, up 4% from 50,920,412 st in the first seven months of last year.
Comparing 2025 vs. 2024 YTD shipments shows: corrosion-resistant sheet and strip, up 2%; hot-rolled sheet and strip, down 2%; and cold-rolled sheet and strip, off 5%.
