Recycler BL Duke announced on Wednesday the launch of its new steel turnings containment building in Joliet, Ill.
The Forest View, Ill.-based company said in a news release that the enclosed facility is designed “to raise the bar for environmental compliance and safe handling of steel turnings, cast iron borings, and related byproducts.”
This comes as BL Duke is poised “to celebrate its 25th anniversary in October, underscoring a quarter-century of investment, innovation, and customer-focused service.”
The company noted the facility offers more than 5,000 tons of material capacity and 80,000 gallons of liquid containment.
“We built this facility to make compliance easier for our customers and to set a higher standard for our industry,” BL Duke President Lou Plucinski said.
It’s part of a multi-year strategy “to strengthen logistics resilience across barge, rail, and truck.”
Full-service scrap metal recycling company BL Duke operates multiple facilities spanning over 69 acres.
